• "Gender and sexual diversity in sport" - Conference

    The conference will take place in Kraków on 6th of March.

    It will cover the subject of sports, both professional and amateur, through the prism of diversity in gender and sexual identity. The aim of the conference is to answer the question of whether or not there is room for diversity in sport, and if so, whether everyone has equal access to sporting activities. The conference will also address topics related to sport activism of the LGBT community, including discussion on issues about fighting homophobia, transphobia and sexism in the sport arena. We hope the conference will result in a series of measures for action in Poland that will make sport in Poland open to everyone.

    Krakowski Klub Sportowy “Krakersy” is a multisport LGBTQ sport association based in Krakow, Poland.

    We started back in 2009 and since April 2011 we are formally a registered association. Currently there are 40 registered members. Our association is managed by a Board of four (2 women and 2 men) and is supervised by an Audit Committee.

    One of our biggest successes is GLAM CUP Krakow – the biggest LGBT volleyball tournament in Poland organized since 2013. First edition gathered almost 250 participants and had almost ecstatic reviews (based on a survey we sent to our participants afterwards). Second one - GLAM CUP 2014 hosted almost 300 participants from 11 european countries. During the tournament we also organized Tango Argentino equality workshops and we are hoping to extend the sports offer in the future. GC 2014 was also taking part in Remote Pride House – we organized movie screening as well as joined Same Sex Holding Hands Initiative.

    The European Gay & Lesbian Sport Federation (EGLSF) was founded in 1989. The slogan of the organisation is Fair Play, Tolerance and Safety in Sports for Everyone.

    The aims of EGLSF are to:

    - fight against discrimination in sport on grounds of sexual preference;

    - stimulate integration in sport and emancipation of lesbians and gays;

    - enable and support the coming out of gay and lesbian sports men and women;

    - exchange information and enable co-ordination between European sport groups and tournaments;

    - support the founding of new gay/lesbian/bisexual/straight/transgendered and mixed sport groups;

    EGLSF is a federation which is open to gay, lesbian, straight and mixed sport groups and organizations. At the moment this network has more than 10,000 members within over 100 organisations and sport groups. In the EGLSF all member organisations are autonomous: the Federation is operating as a servicing and co-ordinating body.
    The federation licences and promotes, amongst other things, the organisation of EuroGames, the European Gay & Lesbian Championships.
